Founded in 1959, St. Rose of Lima School is a parish Catholic elementary school in Massapequa, NY, in the Diocese of Rockville Centre. Following state and diocesan curriculum, the school educates students through eighth grade, with full-day Kindergarten as well as a part-time Preschool Program for Nursery and Pre-Kindergarten children.
St. Rose of Lima grades K-8 is a community with a strong parent involvement and a family and community-minded atmosphere. We have a state-certified administrator with more than 35 years experience and a faculty with the majority of teachers state certified and holding a Master’s Degree. St. Rose has two classes per grade level, small class sizes and low student-to-teacher ratios. Our Kindergarten is full day. We offer a reasonably-priced, on-premises, YMCA-sponsored After School Care Program for grades K-6 which includes after school care on some early dismissal days at an additionally low fee. We also offer a reasonably priced on premises school sponsored Before School Care program for students in grades K-8.
Effective for the 2012-2013 school year, St. Rose follows the NYS Common Core Standards in Reading, Language Arts and Math. In addition to core subjects, there is weekly instruction in special areas such as Music, Art, Gym, Library, Learning Center, Technology, and Spanish (grades 6-8). Formal, daily instruction in Religion begins in Pre-Kindergarten. We have a networked building and instruction in and tools for technological learning. We have successful results on NYS tests and the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills and impressive high school entrance exam results.
Generally, of our graduating students who apply to one of the eleven area Catholic high schools, 100% of them are accepted, with several offered full or partial scholarships. Feedback on our students' readiness for and success in demanding high school environments is positive.

Tuition & Financial Information St. Rose of Lima School operates financially from tuition receipts, fundraising activities, and parish subsidy. Therefore, to enable expenses to be met, each family must meet its financial obligation with the timely payment of tuition, the support of our fundraising events, and the weekly use of the Church offertory envelopes.

After School Care Program St. Rose offers a YMCA-sponsored after school care program in our building for students in Grades K-6. Care is available from dismissal until 6:00 pm, with five- and three-day options. Prices are reasonable, and there are discounts for multiple children. Before School Care Program A Before School Care Program, sponsored and staffed by St. Rose, is available to pupils in grades K-8. Arrival is no earlier than 7 AM, with three or five day options. Open Houses & Tours For those considering admission to St. Rose, open houses are held in early December and late January during Catholic Schools’ Week. Tours, guided by trained parents, are available upon request all throughout the year. This is a great opportunity to see our school in session, visit the classrooms, tour the building and meet our teachers, principal, and members of our parent organizations.
