Building Strong Minds and Faith-Filled Hearts
Dear St. Rose Parents,
Earlier today, I received the following email from Mr. Dan Melia, the Commissioner of the Nassau County Spirit Basketball League:
"February Madness has come and gone and I realized that I never announced the Sportsmanship Award Winners for this year. The refs provided input to me and we decided that we would have 2 different winners this year.
On the girls side the Holy Family Girls team has won the 2020 Sportsmanship Award. Let by Coach James these girls displayed the values associated with this coveted award. Congratulations girls on this well deserved award.
On the boys side I received nothing but accolades from the refs about the St Rose's Boys team as this new team to the league displayed great sportsmanship even though they struggled through a losing season. I would like to congratulate Brian Jensen and Coach Rich for providing the leadership necessary to win this award. The atmosphere at their gym was what this league is all about. Congratulations boys on this well deserved award.
Congratulations to both schools, we all look forward to another exciting season next year."
I want to thank Coach Richard Ziesig and Asst. Head Coach Jim Picarella on the tone they set for the boys all season. The boys played with heart, hustle, and determination all season, and they played the game the right way, win or lose. All of the credit goes to you.
Congratulations boys, we are truly proud of the way that you represented St. Rose!
Sincerely,
Mr. Jensen
